Waco, Texas - J'Covan Brown scored 32 points, but the Longhorns fell in Waco to Baylor, 76-71. Texas is now 0-6 in games decided by six points or less this season.
Baylor lead by as many as 12 points in the second half but Texas battled back. Brown hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 54. He also shot a three that tied the game at 66.
Down 74-71, Brown tried for a three with 14 seconds left to try to force a possible overtime. Baylor rebounded and was fouled, which helped seal the game for the Bears.
"We have to play with a sense of urgency from the start of the game," freshman guard Myck Kabongo said. "We always find ourselves behind. We have to learn how to come straight from the beginning and have a sense of urgency from the rip, and we need to get going earlier, because we're usually behind and then we fight back and in close games you have to start from the beginning and play strong."
"We certainly put ourselves in position," head coach Rick Barnes said. "And there are some things we didn't like. And we certainly want to rebound the ball, but there are some other things that we didn't do that I told our team we've got to get done. But we fought hard and put ourselves in position and didn't finish it."
