ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - Central Texas coaches gathered at Round Rock ISD's Reeves Athletic Complex for the UIL's biannual reclassification and realignment.
The newest alignment starts in Fall 2012 and goes until Spring 2014.
Among the changes from the current alignment is Lake Travis High School jumping into Class 5A from Class 4A. The Cavaliers will compete in District 15-5A, which moves them from Region-4, into Region-2. They will play alongside Akins, Anderson, Austin High, Bowie, Del Valle, and Westlake.
Pflugerville Hendrickson is also moving to Class 5A. They will play in District 16-5A against Pflugerville High School and the Round Rock ISD high schools, including newcomer Cedar Ridge.
In Class 4A, District 17-4A is now a part of Region-3. That includes two Bastop schools (Bastrop and Cedar Creek), Elgin, two Georgetown schools (Georgetown and Georgetown East View), Hutto, Manor, and Connally. They are currently part of Region-2.
Leander High School dropped from Class 5A to Class 4A, joining the other high schools from Leander ISD (Cedar Park, Rouse, Vandegrift, and Vista Ridge). Marble Falls and Dripping Springs complete District 25-4A.
And in Class 3A, District 8-3A now includes Brownwood with Burnet, Gatesville, Lampasas, Liberty Hill, and Llano.
