UT's Brown undecided on NBA Draft

Big 12's leading scorer could return

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Texas Longhorns' junior J'Covan Brown is still weighing options whether or not to enter the upcoming NBA Draft.

Multiple reports have suggested he will leave the University of Texas early to turn pro, but the Big 12's leading scorer last season still has until the April 10 deadline to make his final decision.

“I’d like to let our fans know that I have not made any decision on my basketball future," said Brown in a statement.  "The main thing I’ve been focused on after the season ended has been getting caught up with my academics. Just so everyone knows what I’m doing, I’m heading home for the weekend to spend some time with my family and talk with them. Then I’ll talk with our coaching staff here at Texas when I get back. I also plan to get some info from the NBA on where I might be picked, if I decide to enter the draft.  When my decision is made, I’ll let everyone know.”

Brown (Port Arthur Memorial) led the Big 12 in scoring with 20.1 points per game during the 2011-12 season.  He scored a game-high 19 points in the Longhorns' 65-59 NCAA Tournament loss to Cincinnati.

Known for his offensive creativity, Brown also made 37-percent of his three-point attempts and 86.3-percent of his free throws last season.

UT freshman guard Myck Kabongo (Toronto, Ontario) is also considering entering the 2012 NBA Draft.
