AUSTIN (KXAN) - UT officials confirmed on Monday that senior forward Alexis Wangmene will be out the rest of the season because of a dislocated wrist he suffered in Saturday's loss at Kansas.
Wangmene will have surgery on Tuesday after receiving a second opinion on the injury Monday.
Wangmene started 26 games for the Longhorns, averaging 4.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The senior from Camaroon, Africa is UT best post defender.
That leaves Texas with just three healthy big men in Clint Chapman, Jonathan Holmes, and Jaylen Bond going to the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City to face 25th ranked Iowa State on Thursday.
Also on Monday, J'Covan Brown was named 1st Team All-Big 12 voted on by the Asscoated Press. Sunday Brown was named to the Coaches All-Big 12 First Team.
