AUSTIN - At Lake Travis, winning isn't everything, but there sure is a lot of it.

"There's just an atmosphere, an expectation of success," senior guard David Eads said. "People don't really have a conceited attitude; they more just know the hard work that it takes to succeed. And everyone kind of holds each other to that standard. Losing really isn't accepted."

Just three months after winning their third straight football title, the Cavaliers embark on another challenge: the state basketball tournament.

"We always imagined when we're in the stands watching [the football team], how much pressure it would be if we were on that field, and now we're going to get to do it on the basketball court and it will be a great feeling," junior forward Chris Dash said.

The idea of a Lake Travis team going for a state title has almost become a stereotype. But it is a first for the basketball team, who says it hopes success breeds success.

"LT's kind of on a roll right now," head coach Jan Jernberg said. "I know there's a lot of people who probably don't like that, but this is the direction our leadership has taken us, and not just in athletics, but in all facets and academics and everything else."

But that doesn't make this experience any less special for the team.

"We've never really gone this far before, and it's really incomparable to a three-peat state championship," senior guard Cole Vucurevich said. "I think we're successful in our own right."

And now it's their turn to add to the Cavaliers' winning tradition.
