Bastrop rolls to rebound win

BASTROP (KXAN) - Senior quarterback Josiah Monroe accounted for five touchdowns as the Bastrop Bears defeated the Seguin Matadors 51-21 at Memorial Stadium Thursday night.

Seguin opened the scoring with a 73-yard touchdown pass before Bastrop made their move.

Monroe threw for four touchdowns and ran for another.  He found receivers D.J. Gaines, Trae Bunton, Buddy Nunn, and Mason Foytik for scores.

With Bastrop leading 24-14 in the 3rd quarter, Monroe rushed for a 59-yard score.  He finished the game with 417 yards of total offense.

Bastrop improves to 1-1 on the season after an opening loss to McNeil.
