HS Playoffs: State Semifinals

AUSTIN - Both Westlake and Stony Point were trying to advance in the 5A Division 1 semifinals, and if each team won, they would face each other in next week's state championship game.

Westlake advanced, beating Katy Cinco Ranch, 42-27. The Chaps are headed to their first state title game appearance since 2006.

For the second straight year, Stony Point lost in the semifinals, this time to Euless Trinity, 35-28.

Lake Travis is headed to its third straight state championship appearance. The Cavaliers beat Pearland Dawson, 57-12.

In 3A, La Grange lost to Carthage, 27-14.
