Lakeway - The defending state champion Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats were too much for Lake Travis in the first game of their best of three series, winning game one 5-3.
Lake Travis got on the board first with two runs. The first came off an errant infield throw by Calallen. On the second, senior outfielder Cohl Walla scored off of a wild pitch.
The Wildcats got back in the game in the 5th inning, when Hunter Whetsell hit an RBI single to tie the game at two, and then Matthew Garza hit a solo home run, making it 3-2.
Game two is at 4:00pm in Corpus Christi Saturday.
