Gilbert 4A player of the year

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Lake Travis High School senior quarterback Garrett Gilbert has been named the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year in Class 4A. Gilbert leads a Lake Travis team that will play Longview on Saturday in Waco for their second straight 4A state championship. Gilbert's numbers are staggering. He has passed for 3,043 yards and 38 touchdowns this season. 

Gilbert is joined by teammates Cade McCrary (WR), and Paden Kelly (OL) on the first team. Like Gilbert, Kelly is committed to play for Texas next season.

Lake Travis also had linebackers Quinton Crow and Harry Hatch named to the first team defense. Hays High School senior Chris Maldonado was named first team defensive lineman. LBJ's Kerry Hyder (LB) and Elgin's Derrick Falke were named to the second team.
