Lakeway - At Lake Travis, 2008's regional semfinal loss to Corpus Christi Calallen is a memory that won't go away.

"It's all we talk about pretty much," senior infielder Cohl Walla said. "Whenever we hang out, we were just talking about how we lost last year, and that feeling was terrible, so we don't want to happen again."

"Going into extra innings in that last game was especially hard for us, but it just allows us to work that much harder and gives us that much more inspiration," senior outfielder Jack Hourin said.

A year and a week later, the Cavaliers' chance for redemption is on the schedule. A long-awaited rematch with Calallen-- the number two team in the state-- is set for Friday and Saturday, and with it, the chance to advance to the regional final.

"We're extremely excited," head coach Roy Kinnan said. "The fact that we got to that point last year, and these young men's goal is to get back to that game, and take that next step to get an opportunity to get to the regional semis. They know we've got to take care of business."

Calallen is the defending state champion. And while it's often said that the road to this year's state title will go through Corpus Christi, the Cavaliers have a different opinion.

"It goes through Lake Travis," Hourin said. "It goes through Austin, Texas. They've got to beat us if they want to advance. We're feeling very confident this is the year."
