AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin High School senior receiver Emory Blake committed to play football for Texas Tech on Monday. Blake was at the Texas vs. Texas Tech game over the weekend in Lubbock and being part of that record crowd and unbelievable finish made an impression on him. “The atmosphere was amazing and you can’t get a better atmosphere than that in college football, “ said Blake.

Blake has 47 receptions for 731 yards and eight touchdowns. He also has 566 yards rushing yards and four touchdowns in the Maroons nine games heading into their regular season finale Thursday against Anderson High School.

“Every receiver wants to go to Texas Tech; it’s important that they finally have a running game, but Tech’s all about wide receivers and quarterbacks”, said Blake.

Blake has some good football bloodlines. His dad, Jeff, was a 13-year quarterback in the NFL and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl in 1995 season. Blake’s uncle Robert Jones played 10 years in the NFL and won three Super Bowl rings as a Cowboys linebacker. Blake’s commitment is non-binding and can make it official on national signing day which is Feb. 4.
