IRVING, Texas (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys have waived injured rookie running back Darrell Scott and replaced him by signing former TCU tailback Ed Wesley.
The moves Thursday came a day after Scott sustained a hip injury in a pre-training camp workout for rookies and selected veterans.
Wesley went undrafted in the NFL supplemental draft July 12 after deciding to leave TCU for family reasons. He rushed for 726 yards and six touchdowns while splitting time with two other tailbacks.
Wesley and fellow rookie Lance Dunbar, the leading rusher at North Texas, are trying to unseat Phillip Tanner as the No. 3 back behind DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones.
