Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech make women's tourney

All three will host opening round games

(KXAN) - The Baylor Bears are back in the NCAA women’s tournament as a No. 1 seed, as they look to repeat as national champions.

Baylor is joined by Texas A&M and Texas Tech as representatives from the Lone Star State. All three schools will host first and second round games.

Waco will host opening round games in the Oklahoma City regional. Baylor (32-1) will play No. 16 Prairie View A&M (17-14) on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The winner will face the winner of No. 8 Florida State (22-9)  – No. 9 Princeton (22-6) in the second round.

College Station will host first and second round action in the Norfolk region. No. 3 Texas A&M (24-9) will face Missouri Valley Conference tournament champion, eleventh-seeded Wichita State (24-9), on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of No. 6 Nebraska (23-8) vs. No. 11 Chattanooga (29-3).

Texas Tech (21-10), the No. 7 seed in the Spokane region, will host No. 10 South Florida (21-10) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. No. 2 California (28-3) and No. 15 Fresno State (24-8) will matchup in the other first round game in Lubbock.

For the fourth straight year, the Big 12 Conference placed seven teams in the tournament.
Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia all joined Baylor and Texas Tech in the tournament field.

Connecticut, Notre Dame and Stanford received the other No. 1 seeds.

The Final Four will be played at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans.
