AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) - The men charged in the notorious 'Yogurt Shop Murders' were in court Wednesday as their attorneys argued for their innocence.

Michael Scott and Robert Springsteen are being re-tried for the 1991 murder cases.

The two men walked into court for a pre-trial hearing. This time, their attorneys were asking that a protective order be lifted. They say the gag order will not allow them to talk about the case which something they accuse the prosecution of doing.

Judge Mike Lynch refused to lift the order and reminded one attorney that he did not object to the order when it was originally put into effect.

Scott and Springsteen are accused of sexually assaulting four girls, killing them and then burning down the 'I Can't Believe It's Yogurt' to cover up the crime.

An appeals court overturned their first conviction in the case. Scott and Springsteen's attorneys said with the actions by the prosecution and the lack of solid evidence, the cases should be dismissed.

The district attorneys made no comments on the cases.

A trial date has not been set for either man, but they will appear in court again next month.
