AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- Nearly 17 years after the yogurt shop murders were committed defense attorneys and the prosecution are fighting over new DNA testing of old evidence.
Michael Scott appeared in court for a pretrial hearing Wednesday. He and Robert Springsteen are being retried in the case.
An appeals court overturned their convictions for the 1991 murders of four girls at the I Can't Believe It's Yogurt shop off West Anderson Lane.
Scott's wife said she thinks additional testing will exonerate her husband.
"I think it is very important that we continue to pursue that testing and do the comparisons, because I believe the testing is going to lead up to the actual perpetrators of this," said Jeannine Scott.
Scott and Springsteen will be tried separately.
Scott's trial is scheduled to begin in September or October while Springsteen's will be in December or January.
