AUSTIN (AP) -- More than 70 inmates at a juvenile prison in Giddings ran out of dorms and climbed into trees or atop buildings in a disturbance that ended early Tuesday.

The Texas Youth Commission said no injuries were reported in the incident that began Monday night at the Giddings State School.

Officials said the incident started when 74 inmates forced open fire exit doors and ran out of their dorms.

Agency spokesman Jim Hurley said there were no fights or injuries.

"They just ran around like, well, kids," Hurley said.

Giddings police and the Lee County sheriff's office helped secure the perimeter at the facility, which currently has about 375 inmates.

Giddings is 50 miles east of Austin.
