BUDA, Texas (AP) -- Officials said a sheriff's deputy used a Taser on a high school student who was destroying school property Monday afternoon.
Officials said the student left his classroom around 1 p.m. and began walking around campus, kicking ground lights and flipping over park benches.
Hays County Deputy Roger Ramirez, who works as a school resource officer at Hays High School, tried to stop the 16-year-old student. But a sheriff's department spokesman says the boy resisted and head-butted Ramirez.
The boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The deputy has a contusion on his cheek from the head-butt.
Officials did not say whether they would charge the student with a crime.
