AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- A jury decided Tuesday afternoon to let the defense test items of clothing for semen in the case of four teenage girls murdered in an Austin yogurt shop.
Michael Scott and Robert Springsteen will be retried after an appeals court overturned their convictions in the 1991 murders of four teenage girls at an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt shop in North Austin.
Scott's wife said she welcomes the new d-n-a testing and is confident her husband will be released.
"I've always had hope, because I know he didn't do it," said Jeannine Scott. "I don't believe that Robert did or any of the other men that were originally charged with this in 1999, but I believe that we stand a much better chance of seeing an actual fair trial where the truth actually comes out and these men being released."
Scott will stand trial in late May.
Springsteen will be tried separately.
