GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) -- The body of a cyclist was found just before midnight Monday at the intersection of F.M. 3405 and Young Ranch Road.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Bobby Wierzowiecki from Northwestern Williamson County. His bicycle was lying on the pavement nearby.

A Williamson County detective described Wierzowiecki as novice cyclist who had gone out for a leisurely ride. The two-lane winding farm road is narrow and has no shoulder. There were no lights found on his bicycle.

Injuries discovered in an autopsy confirmed Wierzowiecki was hit and killed by a vehicle. The driver has not come forward.

"This person had a family," said Williamson County Detective John Foster.  "This person had loved ones that are looking for answers."

The investigation has been turned over to the Department of Public Safety. They are hopeful someone who might have witnessed the accident will come forward. Contact DPS if you have any information at (512) 506-2800.
