AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- Steven Golka worked at Oaks Treatment Center which is a residential facility for kids with behavioral, emotional and developmental problems. Even though he came in contact with minors, school officials said he never committed any crimes against children on school property.
"Patrol officers were notified and attempted to locate him at his job," said Detective Greg White, with the Austin Police Department. "He must have seen the officers coming. He abandoned his car and took off, so we weren't able to get him that day."
The police wanted him, because a child he knows accused him of performing sexual acts on her, and then forcing her to do the same on him.
"Just the information that the child was able to provide, just very sexually descriptive," said White. "Stuff that a normal seven-year-old wouldn't have knowledge of."
Detectives said some things she described included Golka showing her pictures of child porn on his laptop.
"His laptop computer and camera were seized," said White. "The computer was forensically analyzed, and we found child pornography on the computer."
Golka allegedly sexually assaulted the sever-year-old girl in his apartment, which is where police found Golka later hiding in his bathtub.
As Golka sits in jail, the investigation continues that could keep him there for years.
Golka is scheduled to appear in district court on Thursday on the aggravated sexual assault of a child charge. Other charges could follow since the investigation is still underway.
