AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- The Austin School Board approved a nearly $1 billion budget.

Monday night the board voted "yes" to a budget totaling $950 million.

That money will go towards better teacher salaries and health insurance coverage. It would also tack on an additional $90 a year in property taxes for the average Austin homeowner.

It is up to the public to vote "yes" or "no" to the tax hike in November.
