HOUSTON (AP) - A judge has denied a request to move the trial of three former police officers accused of beating a black teenage burglary suspect.
State District Judge Ruben Guerrero ruled that impartial Harris County juries can be found to hear the cases of former Houston police officers Phil Bryan, Raad Hassan and Drew Ryser. All three are charged with misdemeanor official oppression in the March 2010 incident involving 15-year-old Chad Holley. A fourth ex-officer, Andrew Blomberg, already has been acquitted by a Harris County jury of the misdemeanor charge in May.
Video of the Holley encounter shows the boy on the ground surrounded by at least five officers who appear to kick and hit his head, torso and legs. The four officers were fired and indicted.
