FORT HOOD, Texas (KXAN) - A one-day administrative hearing will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday as part of the ongoing court action involving the the Army psychiatrist accused in the November 2009 shooting rampage on Fort Hood.
Both parties in the case of the United States vs. Major Nidal M. Hasan will go on record in open court before Military Judge Col. Gregory Gross to litigate two motions brought by defense. The motions concern whether the accused is entitled to receive different types of expert assistance at government expense.
Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the attack. Hasan would be eligible for the death penalty if the military chooses to court-martial him.
This will be the first in-court appearance of the parties since the arraignment on July 20. The military judge may also choose to put other matters on the record at that time.
