TERRELL, Texas (AP) - A Texas prosecutor gunned down outside his courthouse office last month is remembered for his zealousness in pursuing tough cases, love of flying and ability to tell stories.
Hundreds turned out Saturday to celebrate the life of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse during a 90-minute memorial service inside a Terrell high school auditorium.
Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland spoke of Hasse's fearlessness and said the time for a "reckoning" will come soon.
No arrest has been made. The 57-year-old Hasse was shot multiple times Jan. 31 while walking from his car in a parking lot about a block from the courthouse.
Hasse had been working in the county 33 miles southeast of Dallas for three years. He served as a prosecutor in Dallas during the 1980s.
