PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) - Thousands of new toys and bicycles are on their way to Fort Hood Tuesday afternoon. They will be given to needy children of military families at an event at the Army base on Saturday.
It's an annual mission accomplished by members of the groups "Celebration of Love" and "Soldiers of America Outreach."
There is still time for you to donate a new toy, bike or even money before Saturday's distribution to the families at Fort Hood. It makes a big difference for the children of military members, who may not otherwise get anything for Christmas.
"I can't tell you how they feel," said Rom Ramsey, president of Celebration of Love. "That's all worth it right there."
The nonprofit organization, based in Pflugerville, was formed 10 years ago to help military families.
Each family in attendance at Saturday's event also receives a frozen turkey and all of the traditional components of a Christmas meal to take home and prepare for their families.
For information about how to make donations of toys and other gifts to brighten the holidays for military families, visit the Celebration of Love website.
