TEMPLE, Texas (KCEN) - A semitruck headed south on Interstate 35 jumped the median and burst into flames Monday morning in Temple, Texas . The accident occurred near exit 297, Midway Drive.

Fire crews put out the flames, and police have shut down both north- and southbound lanes between Midway Drive and the Loop. The lanes are expected to be shut down for hours.

A witness on the scene said one of his employees at Amos Electric heard a tire blowout, looked up and saw the truck swerving toward the median. Amos said he doesn't know what caused the tire to blow, but there was another car involved in the accident.

The car was sandwiched between the semi and the barrier wall. That driver of that car left in the ambulance.

The truck hit a light pole during the accident, causing the north-bound lanes to be closed briefly. But traffic appears to be moving slowly northbound again.

It has also been reported that a car just north of the semi accident, near exit 304, drove off the bridge and landed in a ditch.

It is believed that no one was injured
