HOUSTON (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry and his opponent, Democrat Bill White, both cast their votes in the first day of early voting in Texas.

Perry and his wife, Anita, cast their early votes Monday morning at an Austin grocery store.

The Republican governor said: "I voted right."

Before voting, he was joined at a campaign stop with several Republican candidates for statewide office, including U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and Attorney General Greg Abbott.

White, a former Houston mayor, voted at a Houston community center with his wife, Andrea. He told reporters he did not vote straight Democrat.

"I usually tend to go through office by office and position by position," said White.
