DALLAS (AP) — A George Bush whose uncle and grandfather served in the Oval Office plans to attend the Republican National Convention.

The Dallas Morning News reports George P. Bush of Fort Worth will take part in the GOP gathering.

Former President George W. Bush of Dallas last week announced he would skip the Aug. 27-30 event in Tampa, Fla. A spokesman said the 43rd president appreciated the invitation but is enjoying his time off the political stage.

The 41st president, George H.W. Bush of Houston, declined due to health reasons.

George P. Bush, who's 36 and works at a private equity firm, co-chairs a political action committee for young conservatives. The Maverick PAC held its annual conference over the weekend in Dallas.

George P. Bush's father is ex-Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
