Proposal would give assets back to FLDS

Court-appointed CPA rejects settlement proposal

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A court-appointed accountant said he cannot back a settlement proposal that would give  the majority of a property trust's assets back to a polygamous church run by Warren Jeffs .

Court papers filed Tuesday by attorneys for Bruce Wisan said the proposal violates a court order that requires the United Effort Plan Trust to benefit individuals, not the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints .

The trust is an arm of the FLDS church and holds most of the land and homes in Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Ariz. It was founded on a religious principal that calls for the communal sharing of assets.

The Utah courts seized the trust in 2005 and named Wisan its fiduciary amid mismanagement allegations. The FLDS sued to regain control of the trust last year.

The FLDS has a West Texas ranch near of Eldorado .
