WEST, Texas (KXAN) - Another piece of meteorite was found, thanks to a stray border collie. Last month, meteorite hunters from around the world descended upon the small rural town of West, just North of Waco. They were hoping to find a remnant of the fireball that shot across the Texas sky.

One of the hunters was searching a piece of property when they found a two ounce piece of meteorite on someone's front porch. Turns out the dog, Hopper, had left it there earlier in the day. The homeowner thought it was only a rock. The meteorite was purchased by a collector in Oregon.

Hopper was the first dog in history to ever recover a meteorite.
