HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston freeway has re-opened hours after a tanker truck crashed and exploded.
Authorities say the driver was killed in the wreck on U.S. Highway 59 east of Bush Intercontinental Airport and hazardous material crews have been trying to determine the nature of the cargo.
A fire that shut both sides of the freeway was contained after more than an hour. All lanes were reopen nearly eight hours later.
The wreck was near the east interchange on U.S. 59 that leads to Houston's main airport.
The driver of the truck has not been immediately identified.
