AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police issued an arrest warrant for a woman they said led them on a police chase nearly two years ago.
They detained her after the chase in January 2008, but let her go due to a medical condition, according to an arrest warrant made public Wednesday.
Police said Amanda Jane Hendrickson, now 41, led them on a police chase on New Years morning in 2008. Hendrickson allegedly crashed into a tree near Braker Lane and Dessau Road and tried to run away on foot.
When an officer tried to stop her, police said she started yelling at police to kill her. The officer said they shot Hendrickson several times with a Taser, but she continued to struggle. The Taser supposedly did not have an effect on her.
Officers said they struggled with Hendrickson before they were finally able to handcuff her.
She was taken to the hospital and evaluated by doctors, who said she had cocaine and amphetamines in her system.
Hendrickson was released at that time due to her medical
condition and not placed under arrest, the warrant reads. Police
did not elaborate on the specific reason they did not arrest
Hendrickson at that time.
Hendrickson was not in custody as of Wednesday afternoon.
