AUSTIN (KXAN) - Police arrested two people after authorities said the men used pitchforks to stop a tow truck driver from towing their car.

Police said the driver with Big A's Towing was about to tow a car from the Ace Mart parking lot on North Lamar on Feb. 7. The driver said as he was backing up to the car, Josue Monriquez, Jose Barajas-Torres and Cruz Barajas-Torres approached his truck and told him to leave the car alone.

The driver told them they simply needed to move the car and it would not be towed.

Cruz reportedly told the driver, "No, you will leave the car where it is." The car was parked in a parking lot owned by H-E-B.

The driver said the men pinned him against his truck, while they grabbed the truck's levers.

After the driver was able to push the men back, Jose and Cruz allegedly grabbed a pitchfork from another car and tried to stab the driver in his chest and stomach.

Police said the other man, Monriquez, also tried to hit the driver with his belt. The men allegedly started to chase the driver around his truck before police finally arrived.

The driver was not injured, and Jose and Cruz are face aggravated assault charges.
