Mom leaves baby at daycare for a week

(CNN) - Haley Nugent, 18, is a mom in trouble.

Police ticketed the teenager for child neglect on Monday. She is accused of abandoning her 2-month-old daughter at an Omaha daycare for an entire week.

The daycare provider tried to get ahold of Nugent for days, both calling and texting, but heard nothing for a week.

"She called me drunk the next day and said she was coming to get her without [a] car seat, so that's when I called someone to come get [her,]" said the daycare provider.

The daycare provider bought the little girl everything she needed: A car seat, diapers, formula. She believes the young mother still wants to party and does not know how to take care of her daughter.

"Maybe this is the best thing [to] straighten her out a bit," said the daycare provider. "I'm just glad I was there to make sure she was safe and stuff."

Nebraska Health and Human Services said Nugent will have to go through a series of evaluations to determine if she will be able to get her daughter back.
