WEST LAKE HILLS, Texas (KXAN) - West Lake Hills has decided against trapping coyotes in favor of teaching the community how to safely coexist with them.
There have been several reports of coyotes near Wild Basin -- and lost pets as well.
West Lake Hills Mayor Dave Claunch said they'll soon begin educating residents on how to keep coyotes at a safe distance, what to do if you encounter one, and how to better monitor pets.
The town's council decided not to go with a trapping program after some members presented research about a coyote's role in the ecosystem.
