New Austin business cleans trash cans

AUSTIN (KXAN) - If you have a stinky trash can, you no longer have to complain about the smell.

An Austin man has just started a business that takes the stink out of trash, especially since trash duty is never the most coveted job in the house.

"It's gross," said Circle C resident Justine Bennett.

Gross because her trash can stunk even after the garbage was picked up. She tried cleaning it out.

"When you spray it, you get the splash back on you," said Bennett. "I tried soaking it."

However, nothing worked until she found Donny Gamblin.

"We clean your garbage roll-out trash cans," said Gamblin, Texas Clean Cans owner.

Gamblin comes to your home to clean out the stinky trash can. He started Texas Clean Cans in May after leaving the construction industry and finding no one offered this kind of service.

"Our trash can was filthy, and we tried to wash it out and we weren't that successful and kind of mess up our yard a little bit," said Gamblin.

So others don't mess up their yard and to keep Austin environmentally friendly, he makes sure none of the water used to wash the cans goes down the sewer.

"We hydraulically lift it into our wash bay," said Gamblin. "It washes it and catches the contaminants in the water, and we recycle the water."

It's sanitized and winds up looking new.

"I was amazed at how clean he was able to get the can," said Bennett.

And it takes the stink out of trash - one garbage can at a time.

The service costs $7 a month or $15.95 for a one-time cleaning.
