FORT WORTH, Texas (KXAN) - Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, key lawmakers and water experts gathered to raise awareness about the water shortage and the importance of investing in the state water plan.

Texas Water Development Board projections show that, as early as 2060, 85 percent of Texans will not have enough water during times of drought.

The meeting comes on the heels of a brutal two-year drought period that forced cities around the state to restrict water usage.
