AUSTIN (KXAN) - In anticipation of the presidential visit to Austin on Tuesday, the Austin Police Department and U.S. Secret Service are coordinating road closures during the event.
President Obama is scheduled to make appearances and visit two locations after arriving in Austin San Antonio.
Capital Metro service will be detoured within the following perimeters: Fifth Street, Congress Avenue, Lamar Boulevard and Riverside Drive. As a result, nine bus routes are scheduled to be detoured from around 1 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m.
Aslo, nine bus routes are scheduled to be detoured from around 1 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m.
The following routes are currently scheduled for detours. Police pointed out that the detours may be altered or canceled at the direction of APD or the Secret Service:
The exact route the president will take was not made public.
Signage will be posted at each affected bus stop alerting passengers to the detours and providing alternative stops, and information is also available on Metro buses. Passengers can pick up their bus at any bus stop along the detoured routes.
