AUSTIN (KXAN) - Even though the inauguration will be taking place in Washington D.C., there are plenty of celebrations happening in Austin. Texans for Obama is sponsoring a party that kicks off at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Scholz's Beer Garten. The festivities there last until 1 p.m.
The
Alamo
Drafthouse is also showing the
inauguration, and though the
Alamo Village location is sold out, tickets are
still available at the theater’s location on
South Lamar Boulevard.
Later in the evening, the
Monarch Events Center at Lincoln Village is
hosting an event called “A Dream Realized." Goers can walk
the red carpet and enjoy food and live music at the semiformal
event. Tickets range between $25 and $50.
A tuxes and ball gown event is happening at
Mercury
Hall at the All Yall's Inaugural Ball. Kids are welcome at this
party, and tickets are between $10 and $15.
One of the biggest parties in town will be at the
Four
Seasons for the Texas Presidential Inaugural Celebration and
Gala. This is where most of the politicians who are still in town
will be going. Tickets are $80.
All of these parties not only celebrate a new president but
also the grass roots effort to get him elected.
“Three months out from the general election, it was just a
tidal wave of volunteers over at our headquarters, and there was no
shortage of volunteers this year,” said Andy Brown, chairman
of the
Travis County Democratic Party.
