AUSTIN (AP/KXAN) - Republican Gov. Rick Perry is reporting $6.6 million in campaign cash as he looks toward another run for governor in 2010. Perry's campaign finance report to the Texas Ethics Commission details the $4.7 million he raised in the last half of 2008.
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Perry's potential Republican primary opponent, also was due to file her report Thursday with the ethics commission. Hutchison formed an exploratory committee for a gubernatorial run and transferred $1 million from her hefty federal campaign account to a state account.
Perry is serving his second full term as governor and is the
longest-serving Texas governor. Hutchison said she has been
traveling the state and hearing from Texans who want her to run for
the state's chief executive job.
