AUSTIN (KXAN) - President Obama will be in Austin on Tuesday evening.

He first visits El Paso to give a speech on immigration. He will head to Austin to attend a fundraiser for his 2012 presidential campaign.

The private event will be at the ACL LIVE! at the Moody Theater , housed in the W Hotel , at 310 W. Willie Nelson Blvd.

While seeking money from people in Texas, last week the Obama Administration denied a request to declare a disaster in Texas because of the wildfires, which would make the state eligible for federal funds.

Friday, both senators from Texas asked the president to tour the state's wildfire damage while he's here.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Sen. John Cornyn sent the president a joint statement, which reads "We are hopeful that after seeing this devastation firsthand, you will reconsider your recent denial and provide the state and localities with the vital resources and funding required to fully support their work."

KXAN News will have live coverage of the president's visit Tuesday on Austin News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
