KILLEEN, Texas (KXAN) - Protesters marched outside U.S. Senator John Cornyn, R-Texas, in protest against sending more soldiers into war-torn Afgahnistan.

A coalition of peace and justice organizations are asking President Obama to not only avoid sending troops to Afghanistan, but to withdraw all military and personnel.

President Obama may send more than 30,000 military men and women to Afghanistan is not sitting with those who were opposed to even going into the country during the Bush administration.

"We’re talking about expanding a war that never should have started in the first place, expanding a war that many people throughout the world think is an illegal war," said Rep. Lon Burnam, Fort Worth.

The Obama administration has indicated that sending more troops will will stabilize a deteriorating situation which has not received the strategic attention it urgently needs.

"I say let’s go for it," said Nicolas Guarnieri. "I’m trying to go myself. My step dad’s there and I’m trying to go to give him a hand."

Those who have already served in Afghanistan are not sure we should be in the country.

"Nobody wants to do it," said Justin Brown, who just return from Afghanistan and will go back in 2010. "Everybody wants to be home, but we’ve got to follow orders. That’s what we signed up for, so we have to do it."

The leaders of the organizations believe that sending more troops to the regions will escalate the situation.

Austin Center for Peace and Justice and Texans for Peace and many other peace organizations have join the fight to end the war and rebuild the country.
