AUSTIN (KXAN) - A deadly crash on I-35 in South Austin killed one man. His roommate and an 11-year old child were rushed to the hospital.
The wreck happened near Slaughter Lane on South I-35 around 6 p.m. Witnesses told police the driver of a 4-door Toyota Avalon lost control on the the frontage road and rolled onto the highway across three lanes of traffic.
"We're very lucky that no other vehicles were involved after he lost control an began to flip over being that it was Sunday at 6pm," said Sgt. Phil Linsalata with the Austin Police Department.
Crews cleared the roadway and had the highway opened back up by 9 p.m. Sunday. The child passengers was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center. The other passenger was taken to Brackenridge. Police said both had minor injuries.
