AUSTIN (KXAN) - A crash killed the driver of an SUV on Howard Lane near Dessau Road after midnight Wednesday.

A witness called 911 at 12:30 a.m. The driver was the only person in the car, and no other cars were hit.

Austin police are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not released any information on whether speed, drowsiness or alcohol were factors.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

This comes as Austin City Council members just this month have called on City Manager Mark Ott to investigate into the recent spike of deadly crashes.
