Mark Monstrola

Weekday Morning and Noon Meteorologist, Mark Monstrola, became a part of the KXAN team in September 2012.

Mark has always been a curious person, wanting to find out why and how things work.  Growing up in Pittsburgh, Mark would spend time watching summer thunderstorms with his mother on their front porch, wanting to know how weather develops.

As luck would have it, Mark’s favorite college, Penn State University, had a great Meteorology program.  Knowing that studying Meteorology involved a great deal of math and physics, two subjects he enjoyed very much, Mark knew it was a perfect fit.

Mark joined the KXAN team after spending five years on the morning show at WFMJ in Youngstown, Ohio.  During his time there Mark received his AMS Seal of Approval for Television Broadcast Meteorologists and won the distinction of “Groom of the Year” for Brides Magazine in 2011.

While there, Mark met and married his beautiful wife Shannon.
