When did you start at KXAN?

What was your most memorable story?

Covering the Jarrell tornado on May 27, 1997, that killed 27 people as it flattened nearly every building in its path.

How did you get started in news?

My journalism professor while I was a college sophomore in 1980 encouraged me to apply for a job at small twice-weekly newspaper in Rockwall, Texas. I've made my living writing and editing news ever since.

Where did you go to college?

The University of Texas at Arlington

What's your favorite thing about Austin?

The running trails around Town Lake

What's your guilty pleasure?

Enjoying a charcoal-broiled New York strip steak.

What's your favorite band or musician?

Neil Young

What's your favorite movie?

Casablanca

What's your favorite TV show?

Seinfeld

Tell us about your family.

I'm from a large and still-growing extended family. It's not unsual for us to find seats for 50 people from three generations around the Thanksgiving table.
