What's your position?
Multi-Platform Journalist

When did you start at KXAN?
May 12, 2010

What was your most memorable story?
I covered a story several years ago when troops returned from Iraq after a long tour. Some of the soldiers had not seen their families in more than a year or longer. I will say, the memory of those little kids running up to their dads, crying and calling out "Daddy," really touched me. That was one of the only times I've teared up covering a story. I will never forget that.

How did you get started in TV?
I started working as a Video Editor for the NBC station in Oklahoma City while I was still in college. My degree was in broadcast news, though I initially went to school for Meteorology. I used to chase storms in Oklahoma. So, the mix of passions brought me to where I am now.

Where did you go to college?
I went to the University of Oklahoma. I was a little worried about that, moving to Austin. But, I quickly learned that Longhorns aren't as bad as they seem from a distance.

What's your hometown?
Owasso, Oklahoma. Small suburb north of Tulsa.

What's your favorite thing about Austin?
There are so many things I like about Austin I don't think I have enough space to write.

I really enjoy Barton Springs Pool in the summer. Also, Lake Travis is a big hit of mine. Hiking the endless trails around the city. Also, the downtown nightlife. I live downtown too, so the accessibility to events on Auditorium Shores, Lady Bird Lake and Zilker Park are fantastic. There's really not much you can't like about this city.

What's your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate....and dark chocolate.

How would you like to make a difference?
I'm hoping the profession I chose can make a difference. I'm doing what I do not just to make a living, but to tell stories that mean something, inform and help others.

What's your favorite band or musician?
I have some weird varied tastes. I like everything from Seether (heavy rock), to Mozart (classical), to Lady Gaga (enough said).

What's your favorite movie?
"Shrek" is a favorite that comes to mind.

What's your favorite TV show?
I like my reality TV. Deadliest Catch and The Amazing Race are a toss up. But, I do like me some 30 Rock and Modern Family.

What's your favorite food?
I have a few.... steak, pizza and Hut's cheeseburgers. But, during swimsuit season I have to stick with grilled chicken salads.
