What was your most memorable story?
Fires have been some of the most memorable stories I’ve worked on. As an intern here at KXAN, I covered a West Campus fire that was enormous. Everyone was safe, thank God. Another was the Bastrop fire in late February 2009. It destroyed many peoples’ lives and definitely impacted me. Some peoples’ livelihoods were destroyed, and they were left with practically nothing.
How did you get started in TV?
I started in high school at the local school district station. I had a lot of fun writing stories and anchoring the show. I got a really good feel for what to expect. My college experience with TV news at UT has also helped a TON.

As long as I’ve taught someone something and as long as I’ve learned a lot along the way, I’ll be happy.
