What was your most memorable story?
Covering a deadly tornado that ripped through a small North Texas town in 2006. My photographer and I were the first news crew on the scene after it hit. Neighbors were running around in nightgowns calling out names near the piles of debris.
How did you get started in TV?
Technically, my first gig came at the age of two. I was picked for a role in one of Matthew Broderick's first movies called '1918' that was being filmed in my hometown. As far as news goes, in college I fell in love with shooting and writing stories for Eagle Angle, our weekly campus news broadcast. I interned at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City and then worked as a writer at KFOR-TV and manned the overnight assignment desk on the weekends. I landed my first reporting spot at KXII-TV in Sherman, Texas. Then, I moved south to report and fill-in anchor at KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi where I won the 2007 TAPB second place award for Best Reporter.
