Sports Reporter, Chris Tavarez, made his way back to Austin to join the KXAN team in May 2012.
His first experience in TV was as a sports intern for KXAN. After completing his education at the University of Texas, Chris landed his first job as Weekend Sports Anchor at KLST in San Angelo. After a short stint in San Angelo, Chris moved on to Lubbock as the Weekend Sports Anchor for KLBK.

Chris was fortunate to get the chance to cover Texas football during the 2009 BCS Championship game at the Rose Bowl.

Chris’ favorite TV shows include Seinfeld and Entourage. He has an older brother who lives in Southern California and his parents reside in his hometown of Spring, Texas.
